HOUSTON – With less than half-an-hour remaining until midnight central time, the decision was made to postpone Friday’s Houston Dynamo vs. LA Galaxy MLS match.
Thunderstorms in the Houston area delayed the 7:30 p.m. local time kickoff for the Matchday 27 encounter.
Fans inside Shell Energy Stadium were asked to take shelter inside the concourse area. The severe weather alert was not lifted until around 9:26 p.m., nearly two hours after the scheduled start.
Despite efforts from the grounds crew, ideal pitch conditions never materialized and the game was called off.
The Houston Dynamo released the following statement:
Due to pitch conditions and resulting player safety concerns created by inclement weather in the Houston area, tonight’s match between Houston Dynamo FC and the LA Galaxy has been postponed.
The match will be played at a later date. Any fan with a ticket to tonight’s match will have the same ticket reissued for the rescheduled contest.
In addition, to thank them for their dedication, fans who attended the match tonight can claim a complimentary ticket to one of the remaining regular season matches hosted at Shell Energy Stadium. Communication on how to claim that ticket will be made available soon via email.
