NEW YORK AND MEXICO CITY (September 7, 2026) – Toluca FC was crowned Leagues Cup 2026 champion after defeating C.F. Monterrey 2-0 in the Final at Shell Energy Stadium in Houston, completing its championship run in front of a sold-out crowd of 21,144 fans and pushing total tournament attendance past 1 million.
With the victory, Toluca FC lifted the Leagues Cup trophy and became the latest club to claim the title in the competition’s history. The championship also secured Toluca FC a place in the Round of 16 of the 2027 Concacaf Champions Cup. The Final marked a milestone moment for Leagues Cup, as Toluca FC became the first LIGA MX club to win the competition in its modern era, following the tournament’s expansion and designation as an official Concacaf-sanctioned competition in 2023.
Ahead of the Final, Javier “Chicharito” Hernández conducted the ceremonial presentation of the Leagues Cup trophy, including the first-ever flip of its two-sided design, from the MLS to the LIGA MX side. The flip signaled that, following Toluca FC’s victory, the trophy would be engraved on the LIGA MX side for the first time.
Toluca struck early through Alexis Vega’s fourth-minute goal before Helinho—who was also named the GEICO Man of the Match—added a second-half finish in the 70th minute to secure the championship.
Earlier in the day, Club León defeated Club América in the Third-Place Match to secure third place, and the tournament’s final berth in the 2027 Concacaf Champions Cup, completing completing an all-LIGA MX podium alongside champion Toluca FC and runner-up C.F. Monterrey.

A tournament that began with 36 MLS and LIGA MX clubs featured 62 matches across August and concluded with the Championship Doubleheader Final on September 6, including 58 interleague showdowns hosted in stadiums across the United States, Canada and, for the first time in tournament history, Mexico.
Fans in more than 100 countries and regions were also able to follow the competition on Apple TV, while select matches also aired on TelevisaUnivision, FS1, Imagen TV, TSN and RDS.
