FRISCO, Texas (Aug. 20, 2026) – Forward Petar Musa and midfielder Joaquín Valiente have been named to MLSsoccer.com Team of the Matchday, presented by Audi, for Matchday 21. The honor marks Musa’s fourth and Valiente’s first Team of the Matchday Starting XI selections of the season.
Musa scored his league-leading 15th and 16th goals of the season to remain atop the Golden Boot race presented by Audi. With his 15th goal, Musa became the fifth player in MLS history to score at least 15 goals in each of his first three MLS seasons, joining Josef Martinez (2017-19), David Villa (2015-17), Sebastian Giovinco (2015-17) and Raúl Díaz Arce (1996-98). He is now three goals away from tying Jesús Ferreira’s 53 regular-season goals for second place in club history. The Croatian also became the fastest player in FC Dallas history to reach 50 MLS regular-season goals, doing so in his 78th appearances.
Valiente scored his first FC Dallas goal, assisted Musa on both of his goals and led the team in key passes and distance covered in the match. The Uruguayan midfielder leads the team in assists (8) and key passes (27) this season. Valiente has recorded assists in back-to-back matches on two occasions this season. He has assisted Musa four times this season, and Dallas holds a 5-0-0 record when Valiente records an assist.
FC Dallas captain Ramiro was also named to MLSsoccer.com Team of the Matchday bench after recording two assists in the 4-3 win over Real Salt Lake on Wednesday night.
