HOUSTON – University of Houston Soccer Head Coach Ben Williams unveiled the non-conference portion of the 2026 soccer schedule on Monday.
The Cougars loaded their non-conference slate with matches against three opponents who won conference championships in 2025 including SEC Tournament Champion, Vanderbilt, American Athletic Conference Champion, Memphis and ASUN Graphite Division Champion, Florida Gulf Coast.
Houston begins fall action with an exhibition against crosstown rival Rice at Holloway Field on Aug. 6, before officially opening year two of the Ben Wiliams Era in Fort Meyers, Fla. to face FGCU on Aug. 12.
The Scarlet & White opens its home slate on Aug. 20 against Northwestern State prior to welcoming Tarleton State on Aug. 23.
The Cougars travel west to face Abilene Christian on Aug. 27 before returning home to face Vanderbilt on Aug. 30.
Houston faces a familiar foe in American Athletic Conference rival, Memphis on Sept. 3 and wraps its non-conference home slate with matches against Sam Houston on Sept. 10 and its Scott Street neighbor, Texas Southern on Sept. 13.
The Cougars enter year two under the direction of Head Coach Ben Williams after a program best undefeated non-conference slate with one goal allowed in 2025.
Houston returns 11 players that saw action a season ago including Big 12 All-Freshman and Second Team selection Samira Minor.
Of the 11 players returning, 10 of them scored a goal including Minor who led the team with six.
The Cougars welcome back three players who redshirted due to injury as well as eight transfers and six freshmen who will join the squad in the fall.
