HOUSTON – Delanie Sheehan stuck inside the penalty arc to deliver the first home win of the season for the Houston Dash, 1-nil, against Utah Royals FC on Friday night at Shell Energy Stadium.
A poorly cleared ball following a free kick chance gave way for the Walnut Creek, California native to notch her first goal with the Texas club in the 80th minute of the encounter. It marked a fifth game-winning goal across all NWSL competitions for Sheehan, who was one of nine new players signed to the Dash for the 2025 season.
The two clubs entered the match on opposite trajectories, with Utah coming off its first win of its campaign. Houston was looking to end a three-match winless skid, including a 3-1 loss in its last home outing.
Katie Lind was honored for reaching 150th NWSL appearances as part of the pregame festivities while Sheehan made her 50th league start. Only Bárbara Olivieri, who was benched for Avery Patterson, did not repeat from the Starting XI in Kansas City.
Jane Campbell tallied her 40th clean sheet in regular season play. The result marked a second victory for the Dash, who improved to 2W-1D-3L, and first year head coach Fabrice Gautrat.
