HOUSTON – After weeks of dealing with visa issues, Houston Dash Head Coach Fran Alonso will be formally presented on Tuesday at Shell Energy Stadium.
The National Women’s Soccer League club has announced a press conference to introduce its new first team manager to local media. The event is scheduled to take place on February 13 at 11 a.m. CT and will also feature comments from General Manager Alex Singer and Team President Jessica O’Neill.
The Dash announced the hiring of the Spanish manager a few days before Christmas. Immigration setbacks kept Alonso from entering the United States and the club started its preseason on January 29 without its manager present, connecting with the team via videoconferences. With his case resolved, the former Celtic FC boss joined the Dash in Tucson, Arizona, and oversaw his first training on February 6.
At Celtic FC Women, Alonso won two Scottish Cups (2022, 2023) and a Scottish Premier League title (2021). Before his time in Scotland, he served as the manager for Lewes FC Women, from the FA Women’s Championship in England, and spent two years as an assistant coach with Everton FC’s men’s side.
