DALLAS – The 2024/25 USL Super League season resumed for Dallas Trinity FC with a 1-1 draw against the Tampa Bay Sun in front of an announced attendance of 3,183 spectators at the iconic Cotton Bowl Stadium in Dallas, Texas.
Lexi Missimo made her debut with a goal for Dallas less than five minutes into the first half.
The opening goal originated with a buildup on the right side of the field, as Allie Thornton played a beautiful one-time ball to the running Missimo, who calmly took a few touches and slid the ball to her right past Sun FC goalkeeper Ashley Orkus for the 1-0 lead.
It was a “dream start” to the former University of Texas Longhorn soccer star who saw the play build and was confident of the result.
The Sun did not let the early goal affect their efforts and tied the match the 50th minute as Carlee Giammona played a beautiful outside of the foot ball to Cecile Nielsen on the left side of the field. Nielsen returned the ball to Giammona, who found a running Parker Goins inside the six-yard box and, in between two Trinity defenders, with one touch, put the ball in the back of the net past Dallas Goalkeeper Madison White.
The match ended in a 1-1 tie, keeping both teams in the top four in the league standings. Dallas stands at 24 points (6-3-6) and Tampa Bay at 21 points (5-4-6) as they head into week #22 in USL Super League action.
