HOUSTON – University of Houston Soccer Head Coach Jaime Frias has announced his resignation after three seasons to pursue another opportunity, UH Athletics announced on Thursday.
Frias, named head coach on Feb. 16, 2022, led the Cougar’s transition into the Big 12 Conference following 10 seasons at Virginia. He earned a record of 18-27-6 with the Cougars, including an 8-8-2 mark as part of the program’s inaugural 2023 Big 12 Conference campaign.
“We thank Coach Frias for his dedication and contributions to Houston Soccer both on and off the field,” Houston Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics Eddie Nuñez said. “Jaime played an important role in helping our program navigate new challenges and grow into a competitive Big 12 Conference. We understand the timing of this transition is not ideal but as we begin our national search, we are committed to identifying a leader who will help Houston Soccer take the next steps towards competing for conference championships while providing our student-athletes the opportunity to excel in the classroom and in life.”
A national search is underway for the seventh head coach in program history, per the Athletic Department’s statement.
