The Houston Dynamo welcomes former U.S. men’s national team and Premier League goalkeeper Tim Howard as the new minority owner of the Houston Dynamo Football Club, which includes the Houston Dash, management of Shell Energy Stadium and Houston Sports Park, and Dynamo and Dash Charities, the non-profit group of both squads.

Moreover, Tim’s commitment to using his unique platform to positively impact communities in need aligns with the values of our organization.”
Howard, notably, joins an ownership group of the Houston Dynamo Football Club that also includes basketball player James Harden and Lyle Ayes, founder, and CEO of Verance Capital, who serves as vice president of the club.
Bringing soccer experience to the front office
The former Manchester United and Everton goalkeeper comes to Houston with experience on and off the field. Howard joined Memphis 901 FC in the United Soccer League in 2020 as a player, minority owner, and sporting director. After playing for one season, Howard hung up his cleats and shifted to his front office roles until stepping down in June.
“As someone who has dedicated my life to the sport of soccer, I am thrilled to join the Houston Dash and Dynamo ownership group,” stated Howard. “This opportunity allows me to further contribute to the growth of the game in the United States and connect with the passionate soccer fans who call Houston home.”
The former goalkeeper has also provided his soccer knowledge as an analyst covering the English Premier League and other events on NBC Sports.
A U.S. Soccer Legend
For many years, Howard was one of the symbols that represented the USMNT and became a soccer legend in the country. For his outstanding legacy on the field, he was inducted into the National Soccer Hall of Fame as part of the Class of 2024.
He played 121 games from 2002 to 2017 with USMNT and won the CONCACAF Gold Cup in 2007 and 2017. During his time, he was also part of the world squads and completed eight appearances in the World Cup. FIFA after competing in the tournament in 2010 in South Africa and in 2014 in Brazil.
At the club level, Howard, who worked as a goalkeeper for more than two decades at clubs such as Metro Stars, now known as Red Bull, spent 13 seasons in the English Premier League from 2003 to 2016. 10 seasons at Everton, and three at Manchester United.
The news has been well received by network users and followers of Dynamo and Dash, all with hopes that it will bring new air to the teams that have had difficulties reaching the post-season.
