HOUSTON — After spending one season with the Houston Texans, Dalton Schultz has elected not to test free agency and extend his stay in the Bayou City.
The Houston NFL franchise formally announced the re-signing of the 27-year-old tight end on Friday. The Houston Chronicle reported the deal to be a three-year, $36 million contract with $23.5 million fully guaranteed at signing.
Signing a one-year, $6.25 million contract during the 2023 offseason, Dalton Schultz found himself becoming one of CJ Stroud’s best targets alongside wide receivers Nico Collins and Tank Dell. The Utah native had 59 receptions for 635 yards and five touchdowns – averaging 10.8 yards per reception, a new personal best.
Schultz was a key contributor to the team’s return to the NFL Playoffs after last participating in 2019. In the Wild Card Round, he caught a touchdown to help the Texans to a 45-14 victory over the Cleveland Browns.
Entering his seventh professional season, Schultz spent the first five years of his career with the Dallas Cowboys. The Stanford Cardinal alumnus was drafted in the 4th round (137th overall) of the 2018 NFL Draft.
