HOUSTON — The next time the Houston Dynamo step on the field will be in an official competition.

After concluding its preseason friendlies, Ben Olsen’s squad has shifted its focus to the first match of the year. The club will travel to fellow MLS club St. Louis City SC to play the first leg in Round One of the Concacaf Champions Cup on Tuesday.

The Dynamo will host Sporting Kansas City on MLS opening weekend next Saturday. The team took part in its last open training of the week on Friday as new signing Gabriel Segal trained with the first team.

Héctor Herrera and Nelson Quiñónes are away from the team due to injuries. Herrera is in Europe receiving treatment while Dynamo FC announced Quiñónes is out of the season earlier this week.
